Inverness

Welcome to Inverness

Where convenience of location marries with a serene suburban lifestyle

The small but dynamic village of Inverness is conveniently located right next to several highways, including Route 68, IL-14, and Route 62. Yet in spite of its energetic vibes and ideal location, Inverness maintains a highly suburban charm where residences feel private, streets are tree-lined, and homes come packed with an all-American appeal.

First settled in 1836, the foundation of Inverness’ idyllic, provincial scenery was established right away in the laying of roadways, which aimed to take advantage of the area’s gentle slopes and the creation of plots that followed nature’s contours. Not officially incorporated as a village until 1962, Inverness experienced a growth boom in the 70s and 80s, which contributed to a variety of architectural stylings and a bustling atmosphere.

Many of the homes here are modern—1980s or later—custom-build houses that tend to run between 500,000 to a little over a million dollars. From stunning brick Colonials to sweeping traditional new-builds set on large, lush lots to upscale condos and attached homes offering pond views and great amenities, buyers here find themselves faced with a bevy of incredible deals.

What to Love

  • Home to architectural attractions like the Village Hall between four silos, Al Capone’s historic hideout
  • Within 10-15 minutes of two of the area’s top shopping and lifestyle centers
  • Luxury golf club right in town

People & Lifestyle

Inverness is an affluent but low-key village, where residents are mostly families, yet many are couples or those without children. The mix of population gives Inverness an exciting atmosphere, and the friendly warmth of the residents here makes Inverness a charming environment for nearly anyone.

Dining, Entertainment & Shopping

In addition to being within close proximity of The Arboretum of South Barrington, Inverness has the advantage of residing near the Deer Park Town Center shopping area. Deer Park is home to some of the best retail options within Chicago, including big names such as Apple, Pottery Barn, Crate & Barrel, and Sephora. Along with its multitude of shops, this shopping center has a wonderful AMC theater and several great restaurants.

Popular dining choices here include upscale steakhouse Stoney River Legendary Steaks. Hand-cut steaks and handcrafted cocktails pair together in a polished environment that creates the perfect date-night ambiance. For a more casual bite, check out Noodles & Company, a beloved chain with savory mac & cheese, shrimp scampi, and a whole array of other enticing noodle options at your command.

Things to Do

Since its establishment in the 1920s, the private Inverness Golf Club has been a retreat for golfers and those who appreciate the finer things of life for decades. Along with the 18-hole course, members have access to a great outdoor pool and state-of-the-art fitness tennis courts.

Women who want to get involved in the betterment of the community can join the Women’s Club of Inverness, which serves children and families in need through fundraising. The local church, St. Nectarios Greek Orthodox Church, also has ample opportunities to volunteer and serve the community.

Residents often unwind by heading to The Arboretum, which offers more than just shopping. The iPic Movie Theater is a great location for those who want some classic fun and entertainment, while salon venues like Blow Bar give clients runway quality blowouts and spa treatments to help ease the stresses of the day.
